From the time he could walk, Royce was singing, echoing the songs of Zion alongside his grandmother. By nine, he was invited to sing with the adult choir; by fourteen, he was leading, writing, teaching, conducting, and playing for choirs across the city and the nation.
An artist and architect of sound.
Formal study in vocal music education at the University of Louisiana Monroe deepened his command of choral artistry, the science of voice, and the visual language of music. His voice is velvet and thunder, carrying the soulful warmth, technical mastery, and unfiltered vulnerability that have made his delivery unmistakably his own.
Royce’s artistry moves freely across gospel, soul, R&B, jazz, and worship. That breadth is not a departure from his foundation; it is the fullest expression of it. His work reaches across genres, cultures, and generations while remaining grounded in truth, excellence, and emotional honesty.
A body of work with reach.
As a singer, producer, songwriter, and coach, Royce has collaborated with Reba McEntire, Jill Scott, Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Vashawn Mitchell, Kurt Carr, BeBe Winans, Casting Crowns, Bishop Paul S. Morton, and many more. With the Gospel Music Workshop of America, he has served as both a featured artist and songwriter across multiple divisions.
His writing and production can be heard on the 2011 release Declare the Works with Bishop John F. Ramsey and The New Life Church of Indianapolis, including the title track written and performed by Royce in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Daniel Weatherspoon.
In 2012, Royce released Calvary, a deeply moving EP centered on the passion of Christ. Its title track pairs his soaring tenor with his own piano performance and a sweeping orchestral backdrop. The project remains a defining example of his ability to translate biblical truth into music that stirs both soul and spirit.
Where ministry meets artistry.
At Mount Zion Baptist Church in Nashville, this intersection became a blueprint. Since 2009, Royce has served under Bishop Joseph W. Walker III, helping lead, develop, and oversee a thriving worship ministry whose excellence and innovation resonate far beyond its local community.
Viral worship moments captured live at Mount Zion have touched millions around the world. His now-iconic rendition of “God Has Smiled on Me” fuses gospel tradition with soul interpretation, embodying the musical spirit of Ron Isley, Al Green, and Rance Allen while elevating the gospel message.
“I want my life to be proof that God still transforms brokenness into purpose, pain into praise, and obstacles into opportunity.”
